Members of the APOA voted to purchase bicycles for 2023's Northside Toy Drive. On October 17th, board members bought 47 bicycles from small to big, which will be given away in December. We're excited to be a part of that event. A special thanks to Stephanie Jackson and her team at Tascosa Road Walmart for all their help.

The Caprock High School Marine Corps JROTC presented the colors and led our members in the pledge of allegiance at the April 27th APOA member meeting. There are 65 students working through a Marine Corp program every day at Caprock HS.
The Amarillo Police Officers Association was established in 1980 and represents 327 working Amarillo Police Officers, which is 95% of the sworn officers in the department. Our mission is to enhance the lives of our members and our city through benevolent and civic engagement. The association hosts political candidates who request to speak to the membership.
On December 19th, APOA members hit all four local Walmart Supercenters to spread a little cheer. Officers were armed with $4,000 worth of gift cards, giving ten (10) $100 gift cards to shoppers at each store. 2022 was the 4th year that the APOA conducted the giveaway.
Coffee Memorial Blood Center hosted its annual Boots and Badges Blood Drive Kick-off Party at their blood center on June 24th, 2022. The drive started 15 years ago after the APOA sought out a local charity to partner with for a community event. The 2021 Coffee Memorial Boots and Badges blood drive kick-off party was held on Friday, June 25th. This event was born in 2009 out of an effort for community outreach by the APOA executive board. They contacted Coffee Memorial Blood Center, and the two entities partnered with the Amarillo Fire Department to create the yearly 2-month long blood campaign. Trooper Chad Walker was ambushed while responding to a motorist assist in Limestone County near Mexia, Texas on March 26, 2021. The suspect fired at Trooper Walker before he was able to stop his vehicle striking him in the head and abdomen. The suspect fled the scene and was later found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot. Midnight patrol officers were working to direct traffic around a fire near Amarillo Blvd and N Madison streets when a drunk driver slammed into their patrol cars.
