May 2025 Amarillo City Council Endorsements

The Amarillo Police Officers Association (APOA), representing 95% of the city's sworn officers, is proud to endorse Cole Stanley for Mayor, Tim Reid for Place 1, Don Tipps for Place 2, Tom Scherlen for Place 3, and Les Simpson for Place 4. These candidates have demonstrated a commitment to responsible leadership, prioritizing essential needs and supporting public safety. The current city council made significant strides in addressing budget challenges and strengthening the police force, leading to increased officer recruitment and a declining crime rate. The APOA believes these endorsements will continue the progress of real, honest leadership for all of Amarillo.

“I believe that common sense and civility are essential at every level of government and that we must work together to find common ground to serve the people of the Amarillo community effectively. Members of the City Council are the eyes and ears of our citizens and the City Manager. In this critical time, city leadership must resolve current challenges and plan for our future."

Cole Stanley

“It’s been a privilege to serve my community over the last four years. It’s been hard and grueling work, at times an uphill experience. However, it’s been a worthwhile endeavor. I am willing to serve an additional two years if elected by the citizens of Amarillo. Over the last two years we have accomplished so many things, but there’s still more to be done.
It’s been a privilege to work on this council with these other men. We will remain focused on public safety and critical infrastructure while we move Amarillo into this new year. With your vote and confidence we will continue to serve the great people of Amarillo with a hard work ethic and integrity.”
