On December 19th, APOA members hit all four local Walmart Supercenters to spread a little cheer. Officers were armed with $4,000 worth of gift cards, giving ten (10) $100 gift cards to shoppers at each store. 2022 was the 4th year that the APOA conducted the giveaway. Officers met some wonderful families while trying to make holiday shopping just a bit easier. Amarillo is not just where Amarillo police officers work, it is where they live too. The money comes from officers' membership dues and fundraisers throughout the year. Officers enjoy the opportunity to meet people when they aren't answering calls and working accidents. This year, the soon-to-graduate 99th APD Police Academy joined APOA members. The tradition of giving back starts early with APD and the APOA. We hope we made the holidays just a little bit better for some friends we met this year. Merry Christmas Amarillo!.
